AutoTrader South Africa appointed Solid Rock to assist with the first ever digital presentation of The 2020 AutoTrader South African Car of the Year event. For an occasion that has been an annual celebration since 1986 this was no small task. Solid Rock conceptualised the creative approach to transition from a live event to a digital reveal and announcement of the coveted Car of the Year winner. With three dedicated animators, a Script Writer and voice over artists that had home based studios we were able to work remotely to execute the production whilst under lock down restrictions. The edit included Stock Footage, 2D and 3D animation creating the environments, the vehicles and all visual effects, sound design, scripting and voice overs. 326 Design hours, 654 hours of render time, 27578 frames and three dedicated animators resulted in an 18 Minute digital reveal of the 2020 AutoTrader South African Car of the year which was streamed Live on YouTube. To date the reveal video has generated over 2000 views. Thank you to our phenomenal production team that assisted in executing this project 3rd EyE studios & David Bloch.
